The results of most of the tests we conduct are delivered within 12-24 hours. Only the diagnosis and results of sick visits and license examinations respectively are given as soon as the tests are over.

Is fasting required for my test?

Fasting is absolutely essential when it comes to tests where the patient’s blood is required to be drawn.
For tests like cholesterol and diabetes, a patient must fast for at least 12 hours.

On an average how long will my test last?

The duration of almost all tests are 5-10 minutes. The only exception is sick visits. Time taken in providing diagnosis for sick visits will depend on the problems, a patient is suffering from.

How accurate are your lab tests?

What measures should I take in terms of my diet before undertaking a medical test?

One day before going through any medical checkup, patients must not eat salty and fatty foods. Patients should also ensure that they fast for 9-12 hours before their test. No such measures are to be taken while giving a fingerprint test.

Till what time period should I refrain from consuming alcohol, nicotine or caffeine before undergoing a medical test?

A patient must not consume alcohol or nicotine for at least 48 hours before his/her medical test. Caffeine is to be avoided 12-14 hours before the test. A patient is allowed to drink only mineral water within 12 hours of the test.

How are specimens collected?
  • For blood tests, your finger may be pricked by a lancet for a small amount of blood to be put in a micro-container. More commonly, a vein on the inside of your arm may be the source.
  • You will be told how to collect urine samples, stool, sputum or other specimens that can be collected at home.
What contents of a human body can be tested?

Our body has many types of cells and fluids. Almost all of these cells and fluids can be tested, although the most commonly tested are blood and urine. Specimens such as sweat, spinal fluid, joint fluid, sputum, stool, bone marrow, tissues, and body scrapings are also tested.
